Sally Kayl was born in Louisiana and raised in a military family, living in Nebraska for most of her childhood before moving overseas to Korea and Japan. She graduated high school in Misawa, Japan, later pursuing her Associates degree in Computer Studies in Korea while working for the Child Development Center. She then continued her college education in Northern California, getting her Batchelor of Arts degree in Digital Entertainment and Game Design. Sally worked for a small game firm until she moved to Washington state in pursuit of another opportunity in the same industry. Here, she had the oppportunity to work for Microsoft Game Studio and Bungee as a Game Tester until she joined the Army.
During her time in the service, she was a 25B (Info Tech Specialist) for almost six years until she was deployed to Kuwait, also spending time in Texas and Hawaii. Sally moved back to Washington state after her time in the Army and began a contracting job as a Cybersecurity Tech working on a Risk Management Framework with Federal Resources Corporation.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I love that my job allows me to learn more and expand my knowledge/skills in different aspects of IT.
What is your current role?
My current role is a Cybersecurity Specialist II at Federal Resources Corporation.
What are your future plans?
My future plans include pursuing another degree in IT and getting certified at the IAM level II. Along, with gaining more knowledge and skills in other areas of IT.
